Durga – Jhaptal Composition
I wrote out one of my favorite compositions for your bansuri playing pleasure. Durga is a popular evening raga and jhaptal is a ten beat rhythm divided 5 + 5 (or 2 + 3 + 2 + 3). I wrote two versions: one plain and easy to read; the other with in-depth ornamentation. In the future, I will write out lots of taans as well. For now, do your best to memorize the composition, and practice it with tabla and tanpura.
