ANSWER:
There are many popular scales in north Indian classical music. In this video, I demonstrate eleven very common and important scales. I also discuss the fact that certain ragas use the scales of their same name differently than how the scale is played in its most basic form. For example, some ragas use notes that are not in the scale, or skip certain notes in the scale on ascent or descent.
